Web Summit Rio 2023: A Global Hub for Entrepreneurship
The Web Summit Rio 2023 stood out as an international event that connected entrepreneurs, investors, and innovators in a vibrant and inspiring environment. It was the first edition held outside Europe, and it exceeded all expectations.

As a testament to the event's magnitude, notable speakers included: Ayo Tometi from Black Lives Matter; Neil Patel, founder of NP Digital; Amrapali Gan, CEO of OnlyFans; Fernando Machado, Global CMO of NotCo; Catherine Powell, Global Head of Airbnb; and David Vélez, CEO of Nubank.
What Dominated the Conversation at Web Summit Rio
Opening Day
The opening session focused on artificial intelligence, the future of business, and the Black Lives Matter movement. These themes intersected to demonstrate that an ethical and conscious approach to promoting equality, inclusion, and corporate social responsibility is a priority for today's companies.
First Day
As expected, Artificial Intelligence was the main focus. One highlight was how generative AI — a specific area of AI with the ability to analyze images and generate text, audio, video, or code — could revolutionize marketing and advertising. Discussions also covered the future of employment and concerns related to the growth of artificial intelligence.
Second Day
The second day featured presentations from the CEO of OnlyFans, E-Sports, and Artificial Intelligence sessions, reinforcing the event's diversity and innovation focus.
Third Day
On the final day, the festival announced the winning startup of the PITCH competition, discussed the distinctions between founders and CEOs, and addressed the lack of diversity in the innovation ecosystem.
You can watch the complete presentations from each day on the official Web Summit Rio channel.
Mitra Shines at the World's Largest Tech Event
Competing in the Beta category, Mitra demonstrated how its market proposition has delivered excellent results and significant progress in its market segment.
In its first participation at Web Summit, Mitra was selected among 42 startups out of 970 total participants for the Pitch competition. Of the 42 startups in the first phase, only 25 were Brazilian.
Furthermore, on the event's third day (May 4), the company had the opportunity to maintain a booth and showcase its potential to all attendees who passed through.

The startup presented its platform and features, attracting investor attention and engaging with other entrepreneurs. This underscores the importance of innovation and entrepreneurship in driving economic growth.
Web Summit Rio 2023 and the Importance of Startup Investment
Above all, the success of Web Summit Rio 2023 highlighted the importance of startup investment and the pursuit of innovation as fundamental pillars for economic and social development.
At the same time, the event also cemented Brazil's position as one of the leading innovation hubs and entrepreneurship centers on the global stage.
And as proof of this, the next edition is already scheduled for 2024: April 15-18 at Riocentro.
